Fetal Neurosonography

Fetal neurosonography is a specialized ultrasound examination that provides a detailed assessment of your baby’s brain, head and central nervous system during pregnancy. It uses advanced ultrasound imaging to carefully evaluate the developing brain structures and may be recommended when a detailed assessment is needed following routine screening or when there are specific clinical concerns.

Important Information

Fetal neurosonography is a specialized examination that provides detailed information about the developing fetal brain, but no prenatal ultrasound can detect every possible neurological or developmental condition.
  • Some conditions may not be visible at the time of examination.
  • Some abnormalities may develop or become apparent later in pregnancy.
  • Image quality can be affected by fetal position, gestational age, maternal factors and other technical limitations.
  • A normal examination cannot completely exclude every genetic, structural or developmental condition.
  • Additional follow-up scans or investigations may be recommended depending on the findings.
  • Your doctor or fetal medicine specialist will explain the results and guide you regarding any further evaluation.
